EPI ZAMBIA PROJECT- April / May 2018

WHERE:  Lusaka, Zambia for the first week and then traveling to Sinda, Eastern Province for the second week.
WHEN:  April 20th– May 5th
PURPOSE: Training pastors and church leaders. Encouraging our missionaries.

Fri……April 27th– Travel  to Sinda

Sat…..April 28th– Visit Mambo

Sun….April-29th– Leadership Conference (25-30 churches represented)

Mon..April 30th -Leadership Conference

Tues…May 1st- Leadership Conference

Wed…May 2nd-Travel to Lusaka via Bus

Thur…May 3rd- Depart Zambia

Fri……May 4th– Travel to Dubai

Sat……May 5th– Return U.S.

 

PRE-TRAVEL AND PACKING CONSIDERATIONS

  1. Get your Passport and Visa taken care as soon as you have purchased your airfare.
  2. You will need a yellow fever shot (make appt. with health center on Rosedale)
  1. We will most likely be flying Emirates airlines with an overnight stay in Dubai before traveling on to Lusaka. Check their luggage guidelines on-line.
  1. Weather in April / May will begin to moderate with warm days and cooler nights.  Pack clothes that can be layered.
  2. Take plenty of snacks….nuts, trail mix, and energy bars are good items.
  3. Make copies of your Passport, Travel Itinerary, Credit Cards and Drivers License to keep on your person while traveling.
  4. Purchase of travel insurance and ticket protection is your option. Check with John first.

 

SUGGESTED CLOTHING FOR MEN (talk to John)

  1. 2-3 Short Sleeve Shirts
  2. 1 Long Sleeve Shirts
  3. 2-3  Pairs of Slacks (cotton or dress)
  4. Sport Coat and Tie
  5. Light Jacket
  6. Jeans- one pair
  7. Lounging clothes
  8. Shoes: Dress shoes and “every day” shoes ( lace-up casual or tennis shoes)

 

SUGGESTED CLOTHING FOR WOMEN (talk to Sharon)

  1. 3-4 long skirts (can purchase pieces of cloth to use as a wrap for the waist down)
  2. A variety of tops to change outfits (solid t-shirts)
  3. A light jacket and leggings for evening
  4. 1-2 pair of pants/one Capri type
  5. A pair of comfortable lounging pants
  6. Shoes: tennis shoes or equivalent, flats, and flip flops
  7. Very minimum jewelry and nothing expensive
  8. Head wraps to protect hair from sand and dirt.

SEVERAL OTHER THINGS:

  1. Pack plenty of snacks and bring a small carry bag to take with you while we are moving. It should be big enough to carry your Bible, personal items and snacks etc.
  2. Take extra money for souvenir shopping in Lusaka.
  3. Several additional helpful items:
    1. Travel package washing powder
    2. Deep Woods Mosquito Spray
    3. Sunglasses (extra pair)
    4. Bio Freeze for aches and pains
    5. Body Lotion
    6. Wash cloth and a hand towel
    7. A book to read (and your Bible)
  4. You may take malaria medicine if you choose to, however the mosquito population is declining by end of April and May. (rainy season has ended).
