What We Believe

The ministry of E.P.I. flows from what we believe about God and His creation. Our missionaries, from different backgrounds and denominations, serve in biblical unity and together, unreservedly affirm together the following TRUTHS of the faith.

GOD ALMIGHTY – CREATOR OF ALL THINGS
The One true living God is infinite and unchangeable in power, wisdom, holiness and love. He is the Creator, Sovereign Ruler and Preserver of all things whether visible or invisible. In the divine unity of His Godhead there eternally exist three persons in One: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST – THE SON OF GOD
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and made atonement for our sins by His death on the cross. He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into Heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

THE WORD OF GOD – THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible, consisting only of the Old and New Testaments, inspired by the Holy Spirit, is inerrant. It alone is the infallible and authoritative Word of God for all matters of faith, conduct and doctrine.

SALVATION
We believe that salvation, found through Christ alone, provides forgiveness of sin and reconciliation to God. It was purchased by the sufficient substitutionary sacrifice of Christ on the cross. It is offered by grace to all people and must be personally received by repentance and faith as God’s gift, apart from any human effort. In salvation, all believers receive the righteousness of Christ and eternal life. True believers are eternally secure and persevere. Their lives are to be characterized by spiritual growth.

THE CHURCH
We believe that the Church is a universal body of Christ composed of all true believers in Christ, with Christ as its head. All who are born again are baptized into this one Church by the Holy Spirit. This Church is one because it shares one Lord, one faith, one baptism. It is holy because it belongs to God and is set apart for His purposes in the world. It is universal because it includes all believers, both living and dead, in every nation, regardless of denominational affiliation. This Church does not become fractured by the fact that there is more than one denomination, nor does it become one through church union; for there never can be more than one true body of Christ, and its membership record is in heaven, not on earth.

THE GREAT COMMISSION
It is the responsibility of the Church and of each of its members to obey Christ’s Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) and reach the whole world with the Gospel of Christ as His witnesses to the ends of the earth. Our assignment is further clarified in Acts 1:8 as we the church are instructed to be “witness unto me (Jesus Christ) both in Jerusalem, Judea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the Earth.”

THE SECOND RETURN OF CHRIST
We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ to earth in sovereign power and glory to visibly establish His righteous rule over creation. This blessed hope should vitally affect the daily life and service of the believer.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.   Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”   Matthew 28:16-20 (KJV)
